Community Engagement
Connecting Families and Communities
We offer a community-centered program that brings together families with deaf, hard of hearing, and CODA (Children of Deaf Adults) children, as well as DMV residents.
A Community Within VOCA
Visionaries of the Creative Arts provides a community-centered program for families with deaf, hard of hearing, and CODA (Children of Deaf Adults) children and the DMV residents to come together and enjoy the rich experience of Deaf culture and American Sign Language (ASL) and Black American Sign Language (BASL) through creative arts activities such as ASL storytelling. With their participation in our creative arts activities, we present invigorating conversations, professional development, and more that are responsive to the needs of our Deaf and hard of hearing communities and the time we are living in.
Our VOCA Community Engagement Program:
-
Offers a creative & supportive space for BIPOC, Deaf & hard of hearing artists to freely express their crafts and for the diverse community groups to appreciate their artistic expressions by actively engaging in their creative arts.

-
Promotes Deaf culture and our languages, ASL and BASL by engaging in storytelling for families with disabled and non-disabled children of all ages.

-
Provides access to our creative arts resources by making the program available to various community groups such as artists, teachers/educators, parents and such.
