VOCA invites you to join us for a powerful weekend of community, creativity, and healing.
Motions: Healing Within the Community is a unique series of events that brings people together through dance, movement, storytelling, and sign poetry. This experience creates space to witness, learn, and engage with healing as both a personal and collective journey.
This weekend offers opportunities to connect with artists, participate in movement, and reflect on culture, language, and community.
Friday, May 1
The evening begins with works in progress by choreographers Mervin Primeaux O’Bryant and Wade Green. You will be among the first to witness these developing pieces and experience their creative process.
Following the showing, we invite you to join a movement session open to all, accompanied by live drumming. Come ready to move, connect, and engage.
Saturday, May 2
In the afternoon, join an interactive workshop led by Fred Beam. This session blends sign, movement, and storytelling, offering a meaningful and creative experience for participants.
In the evening, Mervin Primeaux O’Bryant and Wade Green will present their works in progress once again, followed by a special panel discussion.
Location:
Atlas Performing Arts Center
1333 H Street NE
