A Strange Loop

Updated: Aug 5

With "big, Black, Queer-ass, American Broadway" excitement,  VOCA and DAT invite you to see our bold new production of Michael R. Jackson's A Strange Loop—now through August 10 at the Atlas Performing Arts Center in Washington D.C.

The Austin run has been canceled and we close here in DC on August 10.

So DON’T MISS IT!

This historic co-production marks the first time two Deaf theatre companies in the U.S. have collaborated on a major musical, and it’s an extraordinary one. Directed and choreographed by Broadway’s Alexandria Wailes (Spring Awakening, for colored girls, CODA), A Strange Loop is performed in both ASL and spoken/sung English by a powerful cast of Deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing artists.

We've gotten rave reviews!

"A Strange Loop is equal parts profound, emotional, lewd, and abrasive, and this unabashedness keeps some seriously dark moments from bringing the mood to a screeching halt." "The new production... enhances and deepens the meaning of the original work... it is a triumph! "- Washington City Paper

"...movement that captures something that is beyond what's on the page..."

"...signs that get at Usher's feelings behind the language." - The Washington Post

$20 Rush Tickets are available in person, day-of only – starting 1 hour before showtime.

This production celebrates Deaf artistry, intersectional identity, and the brilliance and joy of Black queer expression. As a champion of bold and expansive theater, your presence and support would mean so much to this company.
